Child-Friendly Classes Policy
Zone Out Pilates 690 898 394 (we, our or us) operates this website (Site). The domain address of the Site is: zoneoutpilates.com and it may also be available through other addresses or channels.
This policy applies to all clients attending any “Child-Friendly” class, and to any private or semi-private session where a child attends the studio.
Definitions
In this policy:
Child means any infant, toddler or dependent minor attending the studio with a parent/guardian.
Child-Friendly Class means a class designated by Zone Out Pilates as child-friendly (whether or not you bring a child).
Parent/Guardian means the responsible adult who brings the child to the studio.
Child-Friendly vs Child-Minding
Zone Out Pilates is child-friendly, not a child-minding service.
We do not provide supervision, babysitting, or care.
Parents/Guardians remain fully responsible for their child at all times, including the child’s safety, behaviour, hygiene, and boundaries.
Instructors are focused on teaching Pilates and cannot monitor children or intervene as a primary supervisor.
Safety in a Pilates Environment
Pilates equipment is moving mechanical equipment and may pose a risk to children (including pinching/crush hazards and trip hazards).
-
Parents/Guardians must ensure that:
-
Children do not touch, climb on, or play with equipment (including reformers, towers, springs, straps, boxes, props or weights).
-
Children remain within the parent/guardian’s control and do not enter active workout areas, walkways, or equipment zones.
-
The parent/guardian remains vigilant to prevent injury to their child, themselves, instructors and other clients.
-
-
Designated Child Safe Zone:
-
Children must remain on the Parent/Guardian side of the reformer line (the designated safe zone) and must not enter the equipment area while classes are in progress.
-
-
Prams and Walkways:
-
For safety and evacuation access, prams must not be placed in walkways, doorways, or emergency access paths. Prams must be parked only in the designated area (as directed by staff/instructors).
-
Equipment and Property:
-
Our equipment represents a significant investment.
-
Equipment is not to be used as play equipment.
-
If a child causes damage to equipment or facilities, the Parent/Guardian may be required to pay the cost of repair or replacement.
Class Conduct and Studio Respect:
-
Child-friendly classes are designed to support parents while maintaining a respectful environment for all attendees.
-
You acknowledge and agree that:
-
Other clients may bring children/babies to child-friendly classes. You do not need to bring a child to attend.
-
Noise and interruption may occur; however, children must not disrupt the class to the point that safety, instruction, or client experience is materially affected.
-
Some clients attending the studio may be immunosuppressed or medically vulnerable. We take hygiene and illness controls seriously.
-
Capacity Limits and Attendance Rules
Due to room size and safety:
-
A maximum of two (2) children per client applies unless approved in writing by Zone Out Pilates.
-
If you need to bring more than two children, contact us in advance to discuss suitability and safety.
Activities, Screens and Internet
-
We may provide small activities, but parents/guardians should bring their own entertainment.
-
Internet connection may be unreliable; please pre-download content if you intend to use a device.
-
You may bring a mat for your child.
-
All devices must be used respectfully and without disturbing other clients.
Food, Drink and Cleanliness
To maintain a hygienic environment:
-
Water and mess-free snacks only are permitted.
-
No sticky drinks, messy snacks, or items likely to create spills/residue.
-
Parents/guardians must promptly clean up any food/drink spills or mess created by their child.
-
If a child creates a situation requiring extensive cleaning/sanitisation (including interaction with multiple props/equipment, spills, or hygiene incidents), Zone Out Pilates may need to conclude the session early to restore cleanliness and prepare for subsequent sessions.
Illness Policy (Strict)
-
Do not bring your child if they are unwell.
-
If they are not well enough for daycare/school, they are not well enough for the studio.
-
If your child becomes unwell or you need to reschedule due to illness:
-
Notify us by 6:00am on the day of the session so we can discuss options.
-
We may request a medical certificate if you are seeking reinstatement of credits under your cancellation policy.
Cancellation Policy for Child Attendance
The standard studio cancellation policy applies to:
-
Child-friendly classes, and
-
Private/semi-private bookings where a child attends.
-
Where medical issues arise, you may request consideration for a credit reinstatement by providing appropriate medical evidence. This is assessed reasonably and consistently, but not guaranteed.
Potty Training and Nappy Policy (Applies to Child-Friendly and Private Sessions)
These requirements exist to protect hygiene and safety for all clients.
-
Early toilet training:
-
Children in early stages of toilet training must wear a nappy during class.
-
Instructors do not monitor potty cues.
-
-
Mostly toilet trained:
-
Parents/guardians should arrive early so the child can be shown where the toilet is and become comfortable accessing it quickly.
-
-
Soiled nappies:
-
If a nappy becomes soiled during class, the Parent/Guardian must change it promptly (not at the end of class).
-
We may have limited changing supplies available; no guarantee on sizes or stock.
-
-
Clothing requirement:
-
For hygiene and safety, children must remain fully clothed at all times.
-
If a child is not clothed and the Parent/Guardian refuses to clothe them, the session may be ended and no refund or credit will apply.
-
Right to End Session / Refuse Attendance
Zone Out Pilates reserves the right to:
-
refuse entry, or
-
end a class/session early
-
if, in our reasonable opinion, a child’s behaviour or circumstances create a safety risk, hygiene risk, significant disruption, or prevent the instructor from delivering the session appropriately.
-
Where a session is ended due to safety/hygiene/disruption, refunds are not provided (except where required by law).
School Holidays / Occasional Child Attendance in Regular Classes
If you need to bring a child to a non child-friendly class during school holidays, you must contact us in advance. Approval is at our discretion based on safety, capacity, and the nature of the class.
Acknowledgement
By attending a child-friendly class or bringing a child to any session, you confirm you have read, understood and agree to comply with this policy.
